Look for Love - Mixed Media Tag

Hey guys
Today, I am sharing a mixed media tag with you all. I made this tag inspired by the Lindy's Challenge of the month and the colors used are pinks, greys and browns. The work inspiration is from More Than Words Mini Challenge where the word is " LOOK"...so this is what I came up with.
I have used magical shakers from Lindy's Stamp Gang and rest of the products used are from Prima Marketing and ItsyBitsy...like mediums and gels, flowers, stamps and stencils. Here is a small video to see it much better.
I started with a 7" by 4" chipboard tag and coated it with white gesso. Then I did a little stenciling on it using a pink tinted mixed media paste. To add more texture I added a little crackle paste in few places.

Once everything was dry, I added a little color using magicals and also did some stamping with black archival stamps. My background was ready now and I started playing with flowers and embellishments like clay pieces, mirrors, chipboard pieces and cheesecloth.

Once, I was happy with my arrangement, I added a little sisal fiber and leaves(I colored those leaves with black and white magicals). I then dry brushed everthing with white gesso to bind everything together. I also added a little splatter with white and black magicals which just blends in with everything. The chipboard sentiment is from Mudra crafts and the small ones are from Tim Holts big chat stickers.

Then I attached my sentiments to my tag and added some final touches with glitters, sequins and art stones...this was my fav part. To finish it all, I added 2 butterflies heat embossed on vellum and laces to the tag. This was so much fun to make and took me 2 hours from start till the end...hope you all like it too.
I am adding my tag to the following challenges:
  1. Lindy's Earthy July Color Challenge - Products used are Magical Shakers - Oom Pah pah Pink  Cowabunga Copper, Black Forest black and Frozen Jack Frost magical shakers
  2. More Mixed Media Challenge - Anything Goes Optional pastel

No Stamping Mixed Media Cards!!! (FREE TUTORIAL)

Hey guys
Today I have 3 mixed media cards to share with you all along with tutorial to make them. I have been wanting to make cards with stencils instead of stamps and this is what I came up with....there is no stamping on these cards...which is quite a challenge on its own.

Here is a tutorial for these cards

  • I started with watercolor panels from ItsyBitsy and cut 3 panels to 5.5"by 7.5". I added texture to this using Mixed Media Paste and Finnabair stencil.

  • I left this to dry on the side and started to work on my flowers. I decided not to use any stamps and choose to use this flower stencil from ItsyBitsy to create my own flowers. So I taped it to the watercolor panels and then stencilled using Distress inks using Shaded Lilac, Spun sugar and Squeezed Lemonade.
  • I then heat embossed the flowers with gold embossing powder and an embossing pen so that I could not color the flowers with ease. I am not watercolor expert and so I wanted to water to be contained in each petal so I could do some quick coloring. Just for fun, I used Lindys Magical shakers to color my flowers...these are super fun and leave an amazing shine. Once it was dry, I fussy cut all my images out.

  • This is so fun to look at.....I did the leaves in the same manner too. I added some magicals ( Black Forest Black Magical Shaker and Frozen Jack Frost Magical Shaker) on a watercolor panel and spritzed it with water and then I diecut my leaves from it. My sentiment is also a diecut from MFT and I layered it 4 times to get a thick sentiment and the top layer is from gold foil paper....looks really fun.

  •  I arranged all my elements on the panel using some sisal fiber and then layered the panel on the card to add more dimension and texture. I finished my card with black splatters and some pearl drops here and there.

SteamPunk Mixed Media File Folder

Hey guys
Today I am sharing a mixed media file folder with you all. This folder is 12" by 8" in size with a 2" spine and I altered it using a ton of mixed media mediums and techniques.
I have used 3 different stencils to add texture to the file....alone with cheese cloth and twine. Here you have a look at the back where you can see all the different textures. I have given the entire file a rusty steampunk kinda look which is so fun to make.

Then, I added a lot of metal and chipboard embellishments to the file and tried to bring the focus on the center pocket watch element. The beautiful Industrial stars are from Dusty Attic which work so well on this folder.....glad I saved them for a while. I have used a lot of metal screws, buttons and washers along with clay pieces to add more interest to the project.

Once all the layout was built, I coated it all with black gesso and then started adding colors using Lindys Magical shakers and Itsybitsy metallic paints. It took me some time to get it all done and once I was happy with it all, I added some shine using Art Alchemy Waxes and finished it all with Tim Holtz stickers.....Really happy with the way it has turned out.

Here is a small click so you all can see it much better.
I am putting this up at the following blog challenges:-
  1. More Than Words July Challenge - Discover and Old Stash - I have used a lot of stuff from my old stash. The metal embellishments from ItsyBitsy were bought an year back. The stencils I used are also old Prima stencil and the file folder used holds all my crafty bills and it has been with me since 2015.....now it looks amazing.
  2. The Dusty Attic July 2019 Challenge - Moodboard - The moodboard inspired me to make this project. I have used the colors from the moodboard but my project being steampunk, the lloks do not look so vibrant and has a rusty feel to it.

Moments in Time - Mixed Media Canvas layout

Hey Guys
Today I have a colorful and happy mixed media canvas to share with you all. I have used a lot of my old stash to make this canvas and it includes atleast 3 year old flowers, stencils and more. I am a hoarded when it comes to flowers and I recently came across this massive box of old flowers and I thought to use them to make this canvas.

I have so much left that I am planning to make a floral scrapbook and use this layout as the cover for the scrapbook...and keeping that in mind I have used chipboard cover as the base for this artwork. To make the layout more fun...I decided to use a rainbow color palatte.....it was getting difficult to choose.

I started with a plain white background and layers a lot of pattern paper strips in the center which is visible at a few place. I primed the surface with clear gesso and then stencilled at a few places using an old prima stencil. Once completely dry, I layered all my flowers and embellishments.

Then came the fun part of adding colors...I used Lindy's Magical Shakers in so many colors and then highlighted a few places with gesso. To add more interest to the layout, I did a little stamping using finnabair stamps using Grey and Black Archival inks. To finish it all, I did a  little splattering and added some bling and sentiments...and the canvas was done.

I am putting this up at the following challenges:-
  1. More Than Words July Challenge - Discover and Old Stash - I have used a lot of stuff from my old stash and while I was digging I also found these acrylic bling drops which I bought an year back...so its a win win situation for me.
  2. More Mixed Media challenge - Anything Goes Optional Pastel
