Happy Rakshabandan - Shabby Chic Money Envelope and Gift Box (Pink)

    Hello everyone
How are you all today? I hope you all are having a fab week. So I have yet another Gift box with a matching Envelope for the upcoming festival Raksha Bandhan. This is the second one I have made and its similar to the first one with the only difference being the color of the project.

    Importance of Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu secular festival which is a celebration of sibling love and to be very specific Brother- Sister bond. Raksha Bandhan in Sanskrit literally means "the tie or knot of protection". The word Raksha means protection, while Bandhan is the verb to tie. On this day, The sister comes to Brother’s house and ties a sacred thread (Rakhi or an amulet)on this wrist in turn seeking protection from all evil for a lifetime. This is followed with a prayer or a song while putting red vermillion dot (Tilak) on his forehead and performing Aarti . An aarti is nothing but  a tray with lighted lamp which ritually rotated  clockwise around the brother's face, along with the prayer and well wishes. She then feeds him sweets which traditionally are ladoos, barfis and pedas (Indian Sweets)and in the recent times we feed them Chocolates and sometimes even diet sweets….lol. In return, along with the promise to protect her all her life, the brother also gives her gifts and money.

My husband has 2 sisters (1st cousins) and they would be coming over for Raksha Bandhan to my house and for them I have made this money envelope and a gift box to add a small gift and some money.

The box is 5" by 5" by 3" in size while the envelope is 7" by 3.5" in size and is a 3 fold envelope. The is a belly band to hold the money and the center part is empty to add our message. The top part is left empty and we can keep it that way or add a nice poem or some stamping. Here are some close up shots of the envelope.

    Baby Mobile Card

    Hey guys
How have you been? I am a bit busy this week with some work commitments, but I am taking pictures of the projects before I dispatch them. I am not able to find time to blog about them as soon as I take pictures, so I am posting about them in between my work when i can find time. So, here is a Congrats card I made for someone who just had a baby. I am linking this card at Craft Stamper for the challenge of this month which is Anything Goes.
I made this card yellow and grey as I wasn't informed if it was boy or a girl and hence the color choice. This card has a gift envelope inside so it can carry your message as well as cash gift.
To make this card, I have used a 5.5"by 5.5"white cardstock for base. Then I went ahead and googled some elephant clipart to make the mobile. I found a one I liked and printed it to the size I wanted. Then after printing it, I tweaked it a little to make it look like the one in the card.
Once, I was happy with my elephant, I fussy cut it out. I took a white cardstock and added yellow polka dotted paper tape on it. I then traced my elephant 4 times on this piece of cardstock and then fussy them out. Then, to add the ears, I cut 4 hearts from Papericious Colour Celebration pattern paper. To make the mobile stand, i used the same pattern paper and used a black waterproof pen to make the threads. I adhered the elephant to the card using foam tape and added a flat pearl to finish the mobile. I have stamped the congrats sentiment from JustRite Clear Grand Handwritten Sentiments Stamp Set on white cardstock and layered it on the pattern paper. To finish the card, I added some yellow bakers twine and a thin strip of the Papericious Colour celebration pattern paper.

For the inside, I made a small envelope and added the swirly pattern and Best wishes Sentiment which re both from Inkadinkado Birthday Wishes Stamp Set. Secured the envelope using White Satin ribbon. For detailed Turorial for making the envelope, please refer my earlier post Congrats on your Engagement.
I want to remind you all about the giveaway running on my blog till 28th July. Please visit the post One Lakh Blogviews and Giveaway to know how to participate in the giveaway.

    Congrats on your Engagement

    Hello everyone
I hope you all are good. Wedding bells are ringing all around me and a very close family member is getting engaged tomorrow. As an Indian, our blessing are in the form of best wishes and money.......nice huh.
So, today I have made a gift envelope which accomoates both, blessings and cash gifts. Cool rite!!!!!
Stay tuned. I am going to show you how to make this card.

    Materials:
    1. White and golden yellow Cardstock
    2. Glitter flower diecuts in different sizes (Itsy Bitsy)
    3. Sentiment stamps and dye inks
    4. Sequins
    5. Paper Twine
    6. Satin ribbon
    7. Adhesives
    8. Scissors
    9. Score board
    10. Fancy scissors
    11. Sequins
    Procedure:
    1. I have taken a 6 " by 12 " white cardstock for the card base. I score the card at 6 " and got a 6 " by 6 " square card.
    2. I have cut a big heart from a 3 . 5 " square white cardstock. On this piece, I have attached many different sized glitter flowers in shades of yellow. I have raised the petals of the flowers to give it a 3d look. I have completely covered the white cardstock with flowers so white is seen.
    3. Now, on the inside  have attached an envelope made using a golden yellow cardstock. Use the image below to make the envelope. Fold the cardstock at the mentioned places and adhere the ends to obtain an envelope.

    4. Using a fancy scissor, I trimmed the flap of the envelope. Then, I stamped the pattern on a white cardstock and added a BEST WISHES sentiment in the middle using Memento Tuxedo Black and Dandelion dye inks. Both the stamps are from Inkadinkado Birthday Wishes Stamp Set.

    5. I then, adhered this piece to the envelope. I added this envelope to the card using strong adhesive. Before sticking the envelope, I wound satin ribbon around the envelope which I then used to secure the flap of the envelope. However, please add glue to the flap before closing it if you are adding cash inside the envelope. I added a few sequins here and there to finish the inside.
    6. On the right side, I stamped to and from stamps from JustRite Clear Grand Handwritten Sentiments Stamp Set.
    7. Now. on the front side, I added a congrats sentiment from the JustRite Clear Grand Handwritten Sentiments Stamp Set. I stamped it on white cs which I added on golden yellow cs, I then mounted this on the card using foam tape.
    8. I also wounded a yellow paper twine 2 times around the fold of the card and ended it in a bow. Added a little glitter to the center of the bow. To finish the card, glue the floral heart piece to the center of the card using good strong adhesive..
    9. That's it. I finished the card with a few sequins on the card and in the gaps of the center piece.
I hope you liked my card. You can make it in different colors and different sizes. I did yellow because yellow is a sacred color in Hinduism and it indicates prosperity.

Thank you for vising my blog and till next time......keep crafting.
