Just Relax - Mixed Media Layout

 Hello guys

I am sharing my new mixed media layout today which is inspired by blog challenge moodboards and I am also putting up my layout at these challenges. The design and choice of words with picture is inspired the Sketch mentioned at More Than Words Challenge for August 2020 and the color scheme and theme is inspired by the moodboard at Lindy's Color Challenge.

I have used a picture of my nephew and myself....this is atleast 10 years old. Though I wanted to add another image of us building sandcastles and chilling on the Juhu Beach(Located in Mumbai, India).....he is a teenager now and wasnt comfortable with me adding his picture playing in underpants...so I zerored in on another picture where only our hands are seen and decided to use only that...but once the post is public..I am going to add the picture I earlier decided to use and give the layout to him. He is my baby...I love him.

The Lindy's moodboard inspired me to do a beachy layout and I wanted to try to use the sketch at MTW challenge because I have never done a sketch challenge before...It was super fun and took considerably less time to build the layout.

There is a square pattern in the layout that repeats itself 3 times...I decided to replicate it using 3 small stars which symbolise starfish. Also there is circle pattern that repeats itself, also 3 times and I added melange stones at those 3 spots to represent this pattern. I think I have tried my best to replicate the pattern and also combined it with elements and pattern from the Lindy's moodboard like inclusion of stars, chickenwire, sand and 3 colors.

I started with my pattern paper from ItsyBitsy and created my own background with stencil, mediums and pastes. Then I added my colours and splatters in various places. I used a lot of dimension to build arrangement...I feel it adds depth and defination to any project. I did add sand on my image as well as on the background in various places....adds so much to the project. Once My arrangement was done, I added finishing touches and more splatters. I was tempted to add stamping but I refrained from it...just to see if I can try to make a layout with no stamps....I guess I can.

Moments in Time - Mixed Media Canvas layout

Hey Guys
Today I have a colorful and happy mixed media canvas to share with you all. I have used a lot of my old stash to make this canvas and it includes atleast 3 year old flowers, stencils and more. I am a hoarded when it comes to flowers and I recently came across this massive box of old flowers and I thought to use them to make this canvas.

I have so much left that I am planning to make a floral scrapbook and use this layout as the cover for the scrapbook...and keeping that in mind I have used chipboard cover as the base for this artwork. To make the layout more fun...I decided to use a rainbow color palatte.....it was getting difficult to choose.

I started with a plain white background and layers a lot of pattern paper strips in the center which is visible at a few place. I primed the surface with clear gesso and then stencilled at a few places using an old prima stencil. Once completely dry, I layered all my flowers and embellishments.

Then came the fun part of adding colors...I used Lindy's Magical Shakers in so many colors and then highlighted a few places with gesso. To add more interest to the layout, I did a little stamping using finnabair stamps using Grey and Black Archival inks. To finish it all, I did a  little splattering and added some bling and sentiments...and the canvas was done.

I am putting this up at the following challenges:-
  1. More Than Words July Challenge - Discover and Old Stash - I have used a lot of stuff from my old stash and while I was digging I also found these acrylic bling drops which I bought an year back...so its a win win situation for me.
  2. More Mixed Media challenge - Anything Goes Optional Pastel

Your Wings Already Exists......- Mixed Media Layout Tutorial | DT Post for ItsyBitsy

Hello guys
I am here to share with you all a mixed media layout. This year I have been doing a lot of positive affirmations.....on my journal spreads, canvas and layouts. I feel we can achieve anything if we just stay focused and be aware of our abilities. Here is a layout which is so full of motivation and positivity and it says "Your Wings Already Exists...All You Have to Do is Fly. This is my DT inspiration for ITSYBITSY and to read a full tutorial please click HERE.

I have challenged myself this time to limit the no of colors used on this layout and rather decided to use tones of the same color.....I have grey and blue as primary colors and everything around is in tones on blues and grey with neutral shades like white, black and kraft. I wanted to add this softness to my layout and so have incorporated cheesecloth and cotton threads in few places....for me it represents cloud and mist.

I love playing with flowers and glitter and I had such a fun time playing with it....sparkly and shiny but yet muted....Happy with the way it turned out this time..I hope you all like it too. Here are a few more closeups....

I am putting this up at the following challenges:-

  1. Love to Create Mixed Media challenge #2 - Anything Goes
  2. Creative Artiste mixed Media Challenge #46 - Anything Goes
  3. Rhedd's Creative Spirit feb Challenge - anything Goes
  4. Nomadicsouldiaries on Instagram.

The Green Grass - My First Mixed Media Art Journal Page

Hey guys
I am super super excited to show you all my very FIRST ART JOURNAL PAGE. I have never made 1 before and it was in my bucket list and I finally thought its time to give this art form a try. I have to say...its really stress busting....I had such an amazing time playing with my mediums and colors....everyone should make an art journal.

I am putting this up at the following Challenges -
  1. Lindy's Stamp Gang - January 2019 challenge
  2. More Than Words - January 2019 Challenge - Goals and Journaling
  3. Art and Soul studios - January 2019 Challenge - I have used products available in your store - Lindys, Little Birdie and Prima Marketing.

So this year, I have decided to make atleast 1 art journal page every month with some positive quote and the GOAL is to have a dozen by the end of the year....fingers crossed. I tend to get busy with my work and forget a lot of things....and so I have a post it on my wall....which I call my Goal List with a few things I have to do this year.
Over a period of time...since I have been crafting....I have gone through lot of emotions...some good and some not so good. There have been times when I have been content with my projects...felt proud and happy....but there have also been times when I have thought to my self If I am noticed by anyone? ...or Am I not deserving enough? ...... or Is someone else better than me?......these feeling are not the best and really bring you down.....So I want to remind myself WHY I STARTED CRAFTING? Its because it was fun and made me happy...relaxed me and helped me forget all the other not so good things happening around....So I have made this journal page to remind me to APPRECIATE MYSELF.... LOVE MYSELF....STOP COMPARING WITH OTHERS & KEEP CRAFTING LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING YOU....

Enough with the heavy...I have a small clip so you can see this page upclose and I hope you all will like it....
