Life is Beautiful - Art Journal Page

Hey guys
I am here to share my new art journal spread....Life is Beautiful. It has been really long since I did an art journal page...I want to do this art form atleast once a month but I get caught up in work and custom orders and land up postponing this. I think art journal gives me complete freedom to express myself....sometimes its difficult to put in words but art is a language that need no syllables.

I made this page keeping the Lindy's Monthly Challenge in mind....they have a really challenging color combo this month...using all pastel shades of pinks, beige, coral and lilac/lavender. I have never gone all pastel in the similar shades and it was like a challenge for me personally to see if I can work with them....and I came up with this art journal page.
No photo description available.

I started with prepping my surface with gesso and adding texture with Finnabair Manuscript stencil. Then I added some squirts and sprays in multiple layers to add depth and dimension to the background. I wanted a subtle background as the elements I was planning to add were in contrast. Once  everything was dry, I distressed the edges with Black and Grey archival ink and stamped the background in random places with grey archival ink and Finnabair stamp.

Then, I started to arrange my elements and then stamped and gold heat embossed at a random places. This helped me to frame my elements and bring the focus on them. I used some chipboard elements from Little Birdie crafts, cheesecloth and old book page to create interest around my picture. Once everything was arranged, I added more stamping with a script stamp and sepia archival ink. I made a few filler flowers to dress my page...was so happy to make my own flowers...its so fulfilling. Glued everything down and added a fussy cut butterfly that I stamped and white heat embossed on vellum. The finishing touches came from Tim Holtz small chat sentiment stickers, white and black splatters and sprinkle of glitter and sparkle.

I hope you all like it as much as I do. Here is a list of supplies used:-
  1. Finnabair stencil - Manuscript

Moments in Time - Mixed Media Canvas layout

Hey Guys
Today I have a colorful and happy mixed media canvas to share with you all. I have used a lot of my old stash to make this canvas and it includes atleast 3 year old flowers, stencils and more. I am a hoarded when it comes to flowers and I recently came across this massive box of old flowers and I thought to use them to make this canvas.

I have so much left that I am planning to make a floral scrapbook and use this layout as the cover for the scrapbook...and keeping that in mind I have used chipboard cover as the base for this artwork. To make the layout more fun...I decided to use a rainbow color palatte.....it was getting difficult to choose.

I started with a plain white background and layers a lot of pattern paper strips in the center which is visible at a few place. I primed the surface with clear gesso and then stencilled at a few places using an old prima stencil. Once completely dry, I layered all my flowers and embellishments.

Then came the fun part of adding colors...I used Lindy's Magical Shakers in so many colors and then highlighted a few places with gesso. To add more interest to the layout, I did a little stamping using finnabair stamps using Grey and Black Archival inks. To finish it all, I did a  little splattering and added some bling and sentiments...and the canvas was done.

I am putting this up at the following challenges:-
  1. More Than Words July Challenge - Discover and Old Stash - I have used a lot of stuff from my old stash and while I was digging I also found these acrylic bling drops which I bought an year back...so its a win win situation for me.
  2. More Mixed Media challenge - Anything Goes Optional Pastel

Beautiful Memories - Gift Box

Hello guys
Today I have a Big beautiful gift box to share with you all today. This box is custom made for a client who wanted to fit in some beautiful gifts for her beau. This box is huge and measures 15" by 13" by 8" and weights 2kgs as the lid is pretty heavily embellished.
The box is made from scratch using 1500gsm chipboard and handmade paper from ItsyBitsy craft store. I built my entire box using white handmade paper and chipboard and then decorated with the floral linen paper and colorful cardstock (Lilac and Turquoise). To further enhance the look, I gave it all a quarter inch border of gold glitter paper.
To add texture to the box, I did some senticlling using modelling paste and script stencil on all the sides, base as well as the top. I embellished the lid using a lot of handmade flowers, doilies, diecuts, sequins and glitter, cardstock banners, pearls, mdf birdcage and more.
I love embellishing such boxes because it gives me an opportunity to recycle and use a lot of stuff that I hoard. The pearls used are a part of home decor " TORAN " (Hindi: तोरण) (origin: Sanskrit. torana, from tor, pass), which is a decorative door hanging in Hinduism, usually decorated with marigolds and mango leaves, or a string that is tied on the door with the flower on it as a part of traditional Hindu culture which is for decoration and beautification.  They can be made of fabrics, pearls, beads or metals or any other embellishments.
The MDF bird cage I used here is actually part of a tag which adorned a fancy birdcage lamp I purchased.....it was too good to throw away. A few flowers used here were actually reused from few of the gift boxes I got this year for DIWALI. I hoard a lot of beautiful elements that I get and reuse them. There is some thing amazing when you see the random pieces you use coming together and becoming like they always belonged together....MAGIC!!!!!!
Here is a video clip to see the box upclose..I hope you guys enjoy watching it.
I am putting this box up the following challenges:-
  1. UnstampaBelles November Challenge #85 launched: Boxes, parcels or bag.
  2. Rhedd's Creative Spirit November Challenge

Forever Love - Mixed Media | Fabric bound | Mini Album

Hello guys
Today's project is my first attempt at a lot of things. I had never made a flexible spine mini album nor a fabric bound one. Also, I wanted to do a mixed media album for a very long time.....I combined all of my desires into this one project...so its very special for me.

This album is 9" by 6" in size and the spine is 3.5". It has 5 pages and can hold around 40 to 50 pictures and has few journalling tags. Most of the pages are interactive and the flaps are held by strong magnets.

I have used the newly launches papers from Little Birdie called A True Love Story. These papers are a little vintage looking which inspired me to incorporate the blacks, browns and golds in my project.
Here are few pictures of my album but I do encourage you to watch the video fliptrough of this album for a better look at my project.
