Happy birthday - With just a pop of orange

Hello guys
I dunt know why but i am just hooked on to handmade card.....everyday I wake up with something new buzzing in my head and I can't rest until its done. July for me marks the beginning of Birthday season for me and I have a lot of Birthdays lined up....so I decided to stock up on my cards so that I have enough to send to everyone I know.
I am putting this card up at the following challenges:

  5. Addicted to CAS challenge #115 - Summer - My card has summer bright colors
  6. Addicted to stamps and more challenge #251 - Anything Goes
  7. Double D challenge - A pop of color with Black and White - I have my inspiration from the moodboard.

Its a fairly simple card and took me 1 hour to make it considering that I colored the flower with watercolor pencils. Though, I did use water to blend them initially and so I started with a watercolor cardstock. But then, I was very unhappy with the blending and went back again with the pencils and did some shading on the flower..
So, I heat embossed the flower and colored it with my pencils. I then fussy cut it out and kept it aside ready to mount on the panel. For the front panel, I stamped the leaf from the same stamp set several times using dye ink. I added a little black thread and on top adhered my flower. I glued this panel to a black cardstock making sure it was peeking out from 2 sides only. I added this to my chrome yellow standard A2 size cardbase. I finished my card with the sentiment stamped on vellum and added it to the front of the flower and sprinkled some clear sequins. I hope you liked my simple card with a pop of orange.

I distress ed the edges with a distressing took and then added some neutral hemp twine around the front panel and finished with a cute bow. I mounted this onto a 41/8" x 53/8" orange cardstock which was also distressed on the edges using some fun foam. I mounted this onto my white card base cut to 41/4" by 51/2".

Once everything was assembled, I added some cheesecloth and then assembled all my flowers. Finished off the card with the sentiment and sequins. But then, I thought something was missing and thats when I decided to add butterflies which are white heat embossed and then colored with Spiced Marmalade distress ink. I shaped them and added them on my card and then added glossy accents to few of the honeycombs...super fun when you look up close.

So, that completed my card...I hope you all like it.

It took me a while to make this as all the flowers and leaves are stamped and heat embossed on a watercolor cardstock and then individually watercolored using Distress inks. I fussy cut everything out and kept them aside while I readied my card base.
For the base, I started with a white cardstock(270gsm) cut to standard A2 size. I cut a frame out from the front of this cardbase leaving a 1/2"border for the frame. Then, I arranged and adhered my flowers and leaves on the front panel. Then, I added a piece of clear acetate behind my frame and secured everything.
On the inside, I added Kraft cardstock which was splattered with white acrylic paint and heat embossed sentiment which I glued behind my front panel. I finished my card with few sequins and a coat of wink of stellar sparkle on the flowers and leaves. I hope you all like liked my card.

First attempt at Watercolor Smooshing card - For a Friend

Hello guys
I have yet bright and colorful card to bust all the blue mood due to heavy rains in Mumbai........Its raining so heavily since couple of days....I am worried the trains might stop working due to water logging very soon. Today, I was going through some of the photos I took when I was on vacation last month and saw this beautiful Lotus...So pretty and serene. I took inspiration from it and made this card.

I am putting this card up at the following challenges:
  1. SimonSaysStamp - Monday challenge - Distress it.
  2. Craft stamper Magazine - Take it Make it July
  3. Polkadoodles Week#28 - Anything Goes
  4. The Ribbon Girl - July challenge - Anything Goes
  5. Addicted to Stamps and more challenge#250 - Photo Inspiration (Got inspired by the colors in this photo)
  6. Mod Squad challenge - Make the sentiment the main focal point
  7. YNS color challenge#68 - I have used Pale pink, Bright pink and Green color.
  8. Color Throwdown #451
  9. DLART July Linky challenge
  10. DLART Thankful thursday #208 - anything Goes

So here is my new card which I have made using the smooshing technique. I have never done this technique before and it was super fun to try something new. For this card, I dabbed Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Twisted Citron on a clear acetate sheet and spritzed it with water. Then I smooshed this onto a watercolor cardstock cut to 4" by 51/4"and then picked the acetate sheet. I didnt have much patience to wait for it to air dry and so I used my heat gun.
Once everything was dry, I heat embossed the sentiment on the panel using Ranger Tinsel Gold. I made sure to use a anti static powder and it a must before heat embossing. Now, I cut a standard A2 size cardbase from Black Cardstock and added gold glitter cardstock on it which was 1/8" smaller than the cardbase. I then added my panel on this cardbase using strong adhesive as the panel was a little warped due to watercoloring. To add more interest to my card, I added a white frame on my card to make it look like I had framed my sentiment.
To finish my card, I added some sequins in white, iridescent clear and gold. I have made this card for my BFF as Friendship Day will be coming up next month and just wanted to start making few cards before I got too busy with work.

Supplies used:

  1. Balck Cardstock (270gsm) - ItsyBitsy
  2. Gold Glitter Cardstock - ItsyBitsy
  3. Watercolor cardstock
  4. Distress inks - Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Twisted Citron - ItsyBitsy

Summertime Birthday -Watercolor card.

Hello guys
Welcome back to my blog. I have a watercolor card or you all today. everything you see from the panel to the butterfly is all watercolored using distress inks...They are my favorite goto for watercoloring. I am new to this technique and have recently stumbled upon it and trying my hand as much as I can. So, here I have made a Birthday Day with lots of bright coloring and splatters which I feel would be perfect for a girl...... or even someone young at heart.
I am putting this card up at the following challenges:
  1. Addicted to Stamps and more challenge#250 - Photo Inspiration (Got inspired by the colors in this photo)
  2. SimonSaysStamp - Monday challenge - Distress it.
  3. CAS(E) this sketch #230

  6. Paru's Card making Challenges - July - Happy Birthday
  7. Polkadoodles Week#28 - Anything Goes
  8. Scrap and Craft Challenge#5 - Summertime + Butterflies
  9. Scrapping4fun Challenge #94- Birthday
  10. The Ribbon Girl - July challenge - Anything Goes
So, I started with a textured white cardstock which I had bought maybe years back and I hoarded it for as long as I could possibly....Today was the last piece I could do with it and I am glad with the way my card turned out to be.....Ok ...so back to the process. I started with the cardstock cut to standard 41/4" by 51/2" and then generously spritzed it with water and then started watercoloring my panel. I have used 3 Distress inks - Mermaid Lagoon, Pinked Raspberry and Crushed olive. They blended and forned Violets and hints of Oranges. I let this panel air dry and it took good 4 hours before I could work with it again. I cut my front panel 1/4"from all the sides and then divided into 3 parts and assembled everything on a standard A2 size white cardbase (270gsm)
The Butterfly is from Mudra Stamps and I loved this stamp set....so much can be done with it. I heat embossed this stamp with white and then watercolored the geometric pattern with the 3 distress inks I used on the panel. I mixed then at few places and the result is simply unexpected.
Once the butterfly was all dried, I fussy cut it out and then adhered it to my panel along with some cheesecloth. Finished my card with the sentiment from the same stamp set which I heat embossed with White. To add more interest, I added sequins and splatter of white acrylic color.
I hope you like my card. Thank you so much for stopping by.
